Guidance document on Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) & FAQ document

On 30 March 2026, the European Commission published a guidance document on the PPWR, accompanied by a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, on its website. The guidance addresses several questions related to the practical implementation of the new packaging rules, particularly where there is an evident margin of legal discretion. Remaining questions will be covered in the FAQ, which will be regularly updated. Once translated into all official languages, the guidance will be published in the Official Journal of the EU. Notwithstanding its publication, it will remain a non-legally binding document.
